What to bring on Seven Lakes

Specific to this permit, not a generic camping list. 2 of these are written into the permit rules, and every one of those carries the rule it comes from.

  An approved bear canister

  required, and free to borrow at a Wilderness Information Center

  Permit rule: “Bear canisters are required in the Sol Duc/High Divide Loop/Mink Lake area; hanging food, garbage or scented items in bags is prohibited there”

  A stove; campfires are prohibited at the lake camps

  Permit rule: “No campfires at Deer Lake, Lunch Lake, Heart Lake or Sol Duc Park”

• Bring

  An ice axe and the skills to self-arrest if you are crossing High Divide before mid-July

  Rain and wind layers for an exposed ridge

  Traction devices for lingering snow on north and east aspects
