Who’s behind this
Me. That’s the whole team.
No investors, no co-founder, no company. I have a day job. I started PermitSnag after missing the Enchantments lottery two years running, and it got bigger than I planned.
It now watches 673 permits and every site in 5,255 campgrounds. Last month it ran 845,220 availability checks, which is one every 3.1 seconds, around the clock, including while you’re reading this. It caught 5,854 openings.
All of that goes on my personal card before anyone pays me. In summer it roughly works out. In winter it doesn’t come close. Nobody books a summer permit in December, and the scanner still has to be alive in February when the lotteries open.
That’s what a subscription pays for: the four months a year when this earns almost nothing and still runs 30,000 checks a day.
