Colchuck Zone just opened 16 nights of September dates, plus new White Rim slots
What dropped this week
The Enchantments saw the biggest shake-up this week. Colchuck Zone opened availability across 16 nights between September 14 and September 30, plus another slot on September 17. Snow Zone followed with a full month of openings, September 30 through October 30 wide open. Both zones are worth a look if your dates are flexible. The Subway opened one night, September 27, over in Zion. White Rim added two November dates, November 1 and 2, in Canyonlands. Middle Fork Salmon has an October 5 opening in Idaho. Kirk Creek Campground opened both October 4 and December 2 in Los Padres. Rim-to-Rim in Grand Canyon opened October 26. Over in Dinosaur National Monument, both Yampa and Gates of Lodore opened the same date, October 14. Wingate Hike-In at Dead Horse Point opened October 16.

Eight permits are showing open availability right now: High Sierra Trail in Sequoia & Kings Canyon, Happy Isles to Past LYV (Donohue Pass eligible) in Yosemite, The Subway in Zion, Whitney Mountaineer's Route out of Inyo National Forest, Grand Gulch in Cedar Mesa, Lost Coast in the King Range, Steep Ravine Camp at Mount Tamalpais State Park, and White Rim in Canyonlands. Worth checking all eight directly if any of these are on your list this fall.

Availability changes cluster hard on Mondays this month, 363 detected drops compared to just 220 on Sundays. Tuesday comes in second at 313, with the rest of the week landing in the high 200s to high 300s. If you are refreshing permit pages manually instead of using alerts, Monday morning looks like the best time to catch quota releases and other openings before they get scooped up.
