About Obsidian Campground
Overview
Obsidian campground offers opportunity to get away from crowds amidst shade of aspens and pines. Campground is close to Molybdenite Creek and Little Walker River. The river is stocked with trout. Area trailheads offer several interesting hikes. The trail from Molybdenite Creek trailhead splits, with one branch heading south into the Hoover Wilderness, and one looping north along Wheeler Creek to connect with the trail along the Little Walker River. This can be hiked as a loop from Burt Canyon trailhead (just west of campground). The Emma Lake trailhead leads to a short but steep hike to Emma Lake on the shores of Mount Emma.

Notices from Recreation.gov
Be aware: Black bears frequent the area; all food must be kept in approved containers. Mountain Lions have been spotted in this campground.
Pass Discounts: If you use a pass discount you must provide your pass and photo identification upon check in or upon Camp Host request. If you received a pass discount for which you weren't eligible you must pay the difference in price upon arrival.
Acquiring Campsites: All sites are First Come First Serve, no reservations required. Sites are available for campers as they become vacant and availability is not guaranteed. A site may only be occupied when you are physically present and ready to camp and payment has been made. Sites cannot be held for future arriving campers.
6-person limit: there is a max of 6 people per single campsite. If you exceed this number, purchase two sites and spread your group and equipment out evenly between campsites. This is to protect natural resources and minimize noise levels. Double sites accommodate 12 people; Triples 18 people.
Fire Restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions (or red flag warnings), at which point campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed. Please check with Camp Host before starting a campfire.
Fire Ring Do not build additional fire rings. Glass, aluminum and food are prohibited in fire rings. Logs must fit within the fire ring. Chainsaws are not allowed. Fires must be extinguished with water and cool to the touch before leaving campsite or going to bed.
Generator may be used from 6am-10pm. Quiet hours in the campground are 10pm-6am.
Falling objects Don't linger under dead, cracked, or broken branches. Run if you hear cracks or snapping from tree roots, trunks or branches (know that sometimes there is no sound and very little time to react). Report falling branches and tree to the Ranger.
Extra Vehicle: One RV with tow vehicle per single site or one vehicle with tent per tent site is included in camping fee. Most sites can accommodate 1 (one) extra vehicle that is NOT included with the camping fee. Extra vehicle will be charged a per night fee and collected at the campground. Extra vehicle must fit on the parking spur at the site.
Pets must be on a leash and under their owners' control while in the campground. Owners are responsible for any damage the pet causes. Aggressive pets may be asked to leave the campground for campers' safety and enjoyment. Please pick up and dispose of pet waste in dumpsters.
