Last updated: 2026-08-30 --- The type of incident is Wildfire and involves the following unit(s) Uintah and Ouray Agency. --- State: Utah --- Coordinates: Latitude: 39° 22 11 Longitude: 109° 55 24 --- NOTE: All fire perimeters and points are approximations. --- Incident Overview: The Slough Canyon Fire started on Saturday, August 15th in a remote area of the Book Cliffs on Uintah and Ouray Tribal Lands. Initial attack response to the fire included two helicopters and two engines. This is a full suppression fire where firefighter safety continues to be the highest priority. Vehicles that exceed length, width, height, or weight limits cannot travel between Canyon Junction and the park's East Entrance.
