Overview

B. Everett Jordan Lake is situated along the western edge of the Durham Triassic Basin in the North Carolina Piedmont region and is fed by the Haw and New Hope rivers. Forested hills of mixed hardwoods and pines, including loblolly pine, oak, hickory, and sweetgum, drape the rolling shoreline. Wildlife is abundant throughout the woodlands and wetlands. White-tailed deer, gray foxes, beavers, and eastern gray squirrels make their homes on the project. Birds in the area are exceptionally diverse, featuring the majestic bald eagle and osprey, alongside wild turkey, wood ducks, great blue herons, pine warblers, and Carolina wrens.

Recreation

A wealth of outdoor activities awaits visitors to B. Everett Jordan Lake. The 12,500 acre lake offers excellent boating, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, and swimming opportunities, supported by numerous public boat ramps across nine recreation areas and popular sandy beaches at Seaforth and Ebenezer Church recreation areas. Anglers will find largemouth bass, crappie, channel catfish, bluegill, and striped bass. Miles of scenic trails surround the lake, including the popular New Hope Overlook Trail system and the Interpretive Trails at the Jordan Lake Educational State Forest. For overnight stays, visitors can choose from over 1,000 campsites spread across several campgrounds, including full RV hookups at Poplar Point and primitive, hike-in sites at New Hope Overlook.

Facilities

The Visitor Assistance Center offers a 25' x 14' conference room designed to accommodate up to 20 people. The space comes fully equipped with conference tables and chairs, making it ideal for meetings, workshops, and presentations. Users will have access to a projector, screen, and wall-mounted whiteboard. There is a built-in servery area with a small sink to support catered meetings or light refreshments, while public restrooms are situated a few steps away.

Located just south toward Sanford, this Triangle Land Conservancy flagship property features north-facing slopes and cool waterways. This unique microclimate supports native white pines and wildflower species usually only found in the cold mountain regions of Western North Carolina.

Carolina Tiger Rescue (15 mins)

Located near Robeson Creek boat ramp, it is a world-class, non-profit wild cat sanctuary. The facility serves as a lifelong home to rescued tigers, cougars, lions, leopards, caracals, and bobcats, most of whom were saved from the private pet trade or exploitative exhibits. Visitors can book guided educational tours to meet these majestic animals up close, hear their rescue stories, and learn about the global conservation challenges facing wild populations.
